Hatch Hollow and Seated Flight
Miniature Motifs IIII
at
Hatch Hollow
Size matters?
It certainly does.
Especially at Hatch Hollow, Meadville’s “open-space co- working, art supplies and contemporary art gallery” at its new address 945 Market Street.
Now in its fourth year, “Miniature” contains over 30 artworks in a variety of media. And all less than eight inches in size.
Victor Susol’s ceramic contribution, “Inequity,” displays two differing human-like forms facing each other. Or facing off? A potential duel or simple encounter?
“Duff” is a color photograph from Mick Stabile that portrays a snow-covered pooch appearing to hide behind a snow-covered evergreen tree.
Dan Hunter’s “Wilds of Hydraulics” is a mixed-media piece consisting of feathers, a hydraulic block, a pulley and clay. A brightly colored concoction, it somehow resembles a tribal headpiece, as portions of it spring forth from its gray base.
Amara Geffen “Seated Flight” (see above) is another mixed media artwork within the show. A teeny-tiny white chair seats an old kinda creepy doll head. And atop its head? An amorphous piece of driftwood resembling a bird with its wings spread, readying to take off?
See this big show, Miniature Motifs IIII, before it takes off soon!
