A Graphic Painting With An Arch Image

…Happy Birthday, To Yoooouuu!

“Celebrating 50 Years”

at Glass Growers Gallery

An Art Gallery Appreciation

“…And many moooore!”

It’s a testament to many that Glass Growers Gallery celebrates its 50th anniversary.

(Seriously, how many art galleries within the area can anyone cite that’ve lasted half that long?)

First, to those inspired enough to found the art gallery in 1974.

Secondly, to the discerning curators who make the decisions about each month’s new show and give the thumbs-up to local—and national—artists featured on their walls.

Thirdly, it’s a credit to the Erie-area public that appreciates art—either looky-loos, tourists, art lovers, and, dare I say, even connoisseurs.

A potential secret to their success?

 There’s something for everyone.

Within the gallery there’s photographs, drawings, digital art, mixed media and fiber art. And jewelry (Necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings.) And glass items (Mosaics, ornaments, vases.)

Now with their current exhibit, “Celebrating 50 Years,” the gallery is featuring some oldies-but-goodies: artists who’ve been featured within Glass Growers Gallery’s walls during the previous decades:

Jack Colville since 1983

Jan Lutz since 1995

Greg Zbach since 2003

Thomas Ferraro 2004

Marie Spaeder Haas 1986

Annoel Krider 1983

Susan Stone 1979

Noreen Finn 1999 (see …“Glasswing…” above illustration)

Eddie Mitchell 1991

You can check out these veteran “GGG” artist’s creations through the exhibit’s duration that continues into June.

But you can also celebrate with the gallery this Saturday.

On June 1 from 2-6 p.m., there will be a 50th anniversary party at the gallery and on the Erie Art Museum patio with food from A Waffle Miracle and drinks from Purrista Cat Cafe with special menu items for the occasion.

Loveletters.ink is also developing a flower cart reminiscent of the GGG flower cart from the 70’s and 80’s.

Celebrating 50 Years continues into June.  For more information visit their website at glassgrowersgallery.com
